It is excellent to see the progress of Crossrail and to see these giant construction contracts going out to tender.
For so long the whole idea was words and drawings and promises – to see it inching closer to reality makes this an exciting time for the whole industry. It will be a real boost to jobs, both during construction and once services start running, and linked initiatives like the Tunnelling Academy will be of long-lasting benefit to British engineering.
