A boost in the number of applications for apprentices with Network Rail can only be good news – even though the number available, 200, remains the same.
Obviously there are economic factors at work prompting older applicants especially to consider a career in the rail industry when they may not have done before – but if this results in more talented people coming on board, it is all to the good.
Fresh thinking is just what we need.
