However self-effacing the outgoing chief executive of Network Rail was at last week’s Partnership Awards, it
does not take away from the fact that, however ‘unpopular’ he ‘believes’ himself to be, he will walk away from his role a very rich man.
Just one of the payments which he is in line to receive
would easily sustain ten low income families for a year.
If these were private sector payments I would have no
issue with them because, apart from banking, the private sector only rewards hard work, innovation and success.
But for this money to have come from the public purse is inexcusable. As for Mr “Marie Antoinette” Haythornthwaite’s comment that any criticism of these payments is ‘ill informed’…. all I can say is viva la revolution!
