Whilst the British media are still enjoying battering Gordon Brown for the comments he made about a Rochdale pensioner yesterday, the real story which could affect us
all is the relates to the financial problems being faced by Greece.
The country is the brink of economic collapse and is threatening to take a lot of the Eurozone with it.
This is because of something called contagion which occurs when a country’s debt becomes unsustainable, making the insurance premiums on that debt too high for investors to pay.
Investors stop investing in that country, resulting in its government not being able to pay for any services because
it cannot borrow any money.
In Britain, this would mean no rail subsidies and therefore no rail jobs. Or any public service jobs for that matter.
At the same time I have lost count of the amount of Communist Party literature which has been dropped through my letter box in the last few weeks, claiming that no public service cuts are needed and that our government should continue to waste money as it has been doing for the last 13 years.
Well to all of those who think that the government has a license to print money and that our debts do not matter, I say take a look at Greece.
Because if we are not careful, we could all go the same way.
