Didn’t I tell you? Didn’t I warn you that this would happen?
Following a year of strikes and various other debacles, passengers numbers have dropped by nearly two per cent.
This comes after many years of slight increases.
So, given that the same report has identified that train punctuality is up and there has been a substantial reduction
in the amount of complaints from the passengers who actually use the railways, why is rail less popular?
It would appear that passenger perception of rail matters… perhaps even more than actually performance.
If people think that rail is unreliable because of the constant threat of industrial action – along with constant threats about the safety of our railways from ‘people’ like Mr Crow – then they aren’t going to use it.
Obviously the economy is playing a part in the decline, but irregular rail services and substandard customer service don’t help matters.
So smarten up. Quick.
