I have heard that Virgin Trains are currently eyeing up the possibility of taking over the East Coast Mainline.
Given my largely positive experiences aboard their services and their track record on punctuality, perhaps it wouldn’t be
a bad idea.
Having said that, I have not heard that many bad reports about the levels of service being delivered by East Coast,
the government back operator, and given that the East Coast Mainline was one of the most lucrative rail services in Britain, perhaps the government should keep hold of it.
After selling off the High Speed line between St Pancreas and Kent, the government could probably do with keeping hold of some of its assets.
