Whilst those working in the rail industry must be afforded the very best protection against exploitation by their employers, I fear that the current trend of strikes will only galvanise public opinions against the unions.
It is not hard to imagine a time when – perhaps in a couple of years time – the public is begging the government to ban strikes on the transport network because it is making Britain a less attractive place to invest – and so putting everybody else’s job at risk.
Or perhaps there will be fully automated systems? Is that really what you want?
