Let’s all hope that any spending cuts which take place on the Crossrail project are limited in scale and do not end up limiting the project itself.
The project – especially when coupled with the Thameslink programme - represents a major step forward in terms of travel in and around the capital, making the city more attractive to foreign investment. It will also make the city more productive and efficient for those already working in the area.
That is not even to mention the many rail jobs created by its construction.
