The trouble with the tramline in Edinburgh has escalated, as councillors voted to stop the line on the edge of the city centre, instead of continuing as planned.
The amount of money being spent on this project, as well as extra costs in additional loans and interest, is phenomenal.
Yet with the line suspended miles before its intended final destination, it is difficult to see how it will provide anyone any benefit at all.
Labour and the Conservatives have decided that enough is enough and we must cut our losses and save what we can, even though the losses will cut deep.
It is a difficult decision concerning a project which lacked the clear planning and funding necessary to succeed. Would it be worth hanging on until the end, to ensure at least some use can be salvaged from this mess?
