Let's all keep our fingers, toes and every other crossable appendage crossed in the hope that the government will choose to save the InterCity Express programme, which would not only see massive investment in rolling stock, but also rail jobs for those involved in making the equipment.
Whilst the East Coast Mainline rolling stock is good enough
for now, passengers on that line do deserve a fresh outlook.
Other questions still linger over who will be running services on the line once the government stops running it.
