At a time when thousands of workers are fearing for their jobs in rail, I could not believe my ears to hear a man from Kent asking for free rail travel for the over- 60s.
When millions face having their pensions docked or changed or even scrapped because of the current economic situation, I see this man – and the ten thousand other people who signed the petition – as a perfect example of the blatant selfishness of the baby boomer generation.
It is his generation’s fault that the country is in this mess and now he, much like the politicians who also orchestrated this economic nightmare – are happy to let the rest of us deal with it whilst they enjoy an easy life.
