First I hear that over the weekend news broke about Mr Crow’s pay rise, worth ten of thousands of pounds of year and then I hear that he is now calling for all of our level crossings to be replaced at a cost of £1 million per crossing.
Has this man no grip of the reality facing Britain at the moment?
I would be the first to call fro more safety on our railways – if we could afford to do it, I would welcome an end to level crossings.
However, we cannot afford it. We cannot even afford to maintain the things that we have already got, as the endless rounds of efficiency savings by Network Rail and others within rail have shown.
