Today will see the announcement of one of the most significant budgets in a generation with the future of thousands of rail jobs riding on it.

Whether you agree with the political leanings of those in power or not, the decisions that will be announced today will not have been taken lightly and despite what the showboating Labour leadership candidates would like you to think, we must all do our best to support the measures once they are put in place.

There may be some tough times ahead, especially for those with jobs in rail but we will come out the other side.

Please also do not forget that the announcements made today are not the choice of the coalition, but simply the result of thirteen years of mismanagement by Labour.
