In contrast to the usual apathy towards politics, this election campaign has been one of the most interesting and entertaining that I have ever seen.
There have been some laughs, lots of tears (for poor Gordon anyway) and a variety of ideas, which range from the good, to the bad and the ugly.
One idea which does appeal to me though is the idea of bigger society, not bigger government. It seems straightforward to me that if communities become more involved in running themselves then a greater level of social awareness could be developed.
This could provide answers to the problems such as crime and anti-social behaviour, because if people are made responsible for their communities they will care for them, forcing others to act in a civil way.
Hopefully the message will eventually get through to these two thugs who are wanted for threatening rail station staff. The message being, that if you act in this way… you are no longer welcome here!
