This evening many Tube workers will go on strike over fears that new working practices will mean losses to jobs in rail.
Whilst I feel sympathy for anybody who does lose their job, I would also like to point out that the very reason that ticket office numbers are being reduced is because of the choice that passengers have made – not rail managers.
Passengers have chosen to use the Oystercard and ticket machines because they find them more convenient than ticket offices.
