The biggest shake-up of the East Coast timetable in 20 years, branded ‘Eureka’, got off to a dispiritingly predictable start this morning, as the first Leeds to King’s Cross service ended up stuck outside the London station because of a broken-down train.
The 30-minute delay meant the journey time was far from the 1hr 59mins promised. Indeed, it took longer than the more usual two-and-a-quarter hours that most direct Leeds-London trains take.
Better luck tomorrow!
