The Government’s recent proposal to create a rail link between Heathrow and Gatwick airports has been severely criticised by those in the industry, who suggest that the focus should be on more capacity and a national hub to keep up with the rest of the world.
This link seems to be arbitrary expenditure which would not even fulfil its purpose to a sufficient standard to be worth the cost.
But incorporating different modes of transport has long been highlighted as a way to provide an improved service for passengers.
It is true that a faster link between the airports would benefit travellers, but the different options must be evaluated to discover and develop the proposals which would provide the best outcomes for the people who need it most.
Heathwick would be beneficial, yet in this current climate, no industry can afford to splash out on every single possible development. It is time to choose wisely.
