Although I don’t often find myself agreeing with RMT leader Bob Crow, I am starting to side with him over the issue of Network Rail executives’ pay.
Whilst ordinary track workers are losing their jobs in rail due to efficiency savings, Network Rail’s leaders have given themselves bonuses which amount to nearly three times the salary of the Prime Minister. And that is on top of their normal salary!
Given that the government is having take money from our schools and army, maybe they should look to the leadership of Network Rail and claw back some of that money to be put to better use… or perhaps donate those bonuses to the families of the three track workers who have died over the course of the last year or so.
If Network Rail’s leaders want to be paid private sector bonuses, they should either get rail jobs in the private sector or be subjected to the same amount of competition as everybody else…
