At last, politicians are being honest.
As the last administration were leaving the treasury, former Chief Secretary Liam Byrne left a note to his successor saying: “There’s no money left”.
This is probably the most genuine statement made by a government office for a very long time. Britain is basically pot less, because our tax receipts do not cover our government spending.
For anyone who thinks that the government is going to be able to bail out any company or industry is in for a nasty shock… so let’s all work harder and make the best of it.
