Whilst many train operators have been struggling to keep services running in the extreme weather conditions, the snow and ice was good news for one TOC. Between 28 November and 2 December, East Coast carried 34 per cent more passengers from Scotland to London than in the same five days last year.
Proof of rail’s resilience in conditions which were too much for the airlines.
