Anyone who has travelled on rail services in the North West recently will know a little something about overcrowding.
For anyone who has not had the pleasure of travelling from Manchester to Leeds or Bradford – at times it can be horribly cramped.
The trouble is that the Department of Transport is based in London and so it tends to only notice this kind of overcrowding on ministerial visit to ‘the North’.
However, if the country is going to prosper, then all areas need decent transport systems with enough capacity – to try and ignore the problem just doesn’t make sense.
