I hear that Richard Branson has entered the race to build the USA’s first proper high speed railway. It will be interesting to see if he is given the chance to have a greater role in Britain’s high speed rail project.
Of course, there are many other good operating companies to take the reigns whenever the project does get to the delivery stage – let’s just hope that the government picks the right one.
However, I doubt whether it will be this government which makes that choice – or any for quite a long time.
