Petrol prices are an important factor in the surging number of rail passengers we are seeing, but we should not think it is the only reason.
These figures obviously reflect well on the industry, and an improving standard of customer service, ticketing options, journey frequency and speed and station environments.
This blog will always point out when things fall below standard, but today is a day to congratulate all in the industry who had a hand in attracting so many millions of people to the railways. Without their hard work, petrol prices alone would never be enough to attract so many new customers.
