Following a government report into the state of rail spending
it has become obvious that the current way of doing things just isn’t sustainable.
Network Rail has been identified as being comparatively more expensive than some of its European rivals and so will have to make some tough choices.
However those choices must not affect the safety of
Britain’s railways. If anything, perhaps Network Rail should consider vacating its plush offices in places like Manchester or its new base in Milton Keynes in order to cut down costs.
After all, fancy designer offices do little towards making our railways safer and more effective.
