It’s good to see high-speed rail campaigners being provocative and attention-grabbing with their latest poster stunt as part of their ‘bus tour’ across the North.
But it does seem to show they have given up on winning over HS2’s opponents, by turning it into an ‘us vs them’ issue, demonising those in the South especially who oppose the line because of its proximity to their homes.
Maybe they are right that with most people entrenched in their positions and unlikely to be won round by argument alone, the important thing now is to grab the support of people who up until now may not have really thought about the issue.
Are these posters going to achieve that?
