Whilst I am fully aware that the vast majority of incidents which occur on level crossings are down to the fault of the driver or pedestrian involved, I do wonder why Network Rail doesn’t just bite the bullet and fit modern level crossing equipment at every crossing?
As costly as this might be, it would remove the argument that the equipment being used at the moment simply isn’t up to scratch, along with ensuring that all rail installations are safe and secure as possible.
Surely there must be some money left after the directors get their bonuses?
