I was shocked to hear about the case of a woman being shoved off a railway station platform, simply for asking someone to stop smoking.
I was further shocked to find, as I trolled through the press release archive of the British Transport Police, that this kind
if thing happens quite a lot on our railways.
Neither passengers or rail job staff deserve to treated in this way and should be given proper protection against the thugs who find it acceptable to act in this way and who should, once convicted, be banned from using rail services.
Instead of more and more intrusive CCTV, perhaps we
should simply have more security staff on our railways to make us all feel a little safer.
Incidentally, the man in the photo is wanted for questioning over an alleged case of shouting abuse at other passengers.
Please inform police if you know who he is.
