I was heartened to read about a group which is independent of the rail industry and is campaigning on behalf of the industry for the common good.
The group, Railfuture, claims to be totally free from any connection with the industry and is made up of an informed group of rail users.
It is nice for once to see a group campaigning to make things better for the majority, rather than for simply their own
vested interest.
They have highlighted the fact that rail can offer fantastic value for money and could offer a solution to road
congestion and address environmental concerns.
Let’s hope the government listens to them.
