A new rail director has been appointed by Nexus, to control maintenance on the Tyne and Wear Metro.
He said: “I’m excited and very proud to be joining Nexus. The Metro is a fantastic system and I’m delighted to have this opportunity.
“My job will be to look after all of Metro’s associated infrastructure, such as the tracks, the signals, the overhead lines, stations and ticket machines.”
Raymond Johnstone was given the rail job after working for many years at nhetwork Rail in Scotland as a general manager.
Other jobs in rail which Raymond has done include a stint at Scotrail, where his rail job was that of fleet director. Raymond’s other rail jobs include being head of safety and standards at Scotrail.
