No-one will deny that 2009 has been a very tough year for everyone in the rail industry and although there are signs of economic recovery, 2010 could prove to be just as tough.
However those with rail jobs should try to focus on the positive; if you still have a job in rail, then you are very lucky. To maintain those rail jobs we will all need to work a little harder and a little smarter.
I know some will still want to pick fights with management and put themselves and the public through industrial action;
of course that is their choice and more importantly their right as a union member.
However, please take a few moments to consider the damage that you could be doing to yourselves and others by doing this; public confidence is low and too many strikes could harm the rail industry and no-one wants that.
Also on a practical note, if you are not particularly happy with your current rail job, why not look for another one which does suit you?
