It is marvellous news that Network Rail has taken on 220
new graduates and will be expanding its workforce.
However, it seems to be in direct contradiction of the 1800 redundancies which are happening and so sends out a
mixed message.
Does this mean that Network Rail is simply looking to take on new blood and create rail vacancies which are only to be filled by the younger generation?
Why not simply keep the engineers employed who were there in the first place?
Nevertheless, I probably should not be moaning about the creation of rail jobs; more vacancies in rail is always welcome news.
