I was heartened to see that Network Rail is taking the talks with RMT so seriously.
If Bob Crow wanted the country’s attention, then I think he has now got it and it will be interesting to see what he does next.
After already backing down on a threat to disrupt people’s Easter holiday plans, Mr Crow instead opted to disrupt their first few days after work instead, fearing a backlash.
Will he concede any further?
The fact of the matter is that there are many people working in difficult conditions who feel lucky to still have a job. Their patience with reasonably well paid engineers must be wearing thin.
