Today we remember the victims of the Paddington rail crash; a terrible tragedy which must never happen again. However, given the current state of investment in rail, it could.
It does not take a genius to work out that the financial restrictions put upon Network Rail are going to have a negative affect on our rail infrastructure. We need more people with jobs in rail, working to maintain our railways, not less.
This also creates employment, so if Mr Cameron wants everyone back to work, why doesn’t he promise to pour some money into the rail industry, therefore creating rail jobs, whilst also backing an environmentally friendly industry.
After all, a tragedy like Paddington can happen to anybody and so it is time for the politicians to increase their efforts so that it doesn’t happen again.
