It was refreshing to hear a politician being honest about something for a change.
Although his answer did nothing to help the plight of passengers stuck with rather high peak times fares, Lord Adonis was at least truthful in his response when
challenged over fare levels.
He said: “I am not in a position to put more subsidy into rail fares. I don’t have a pot of gold where I can further
subsidise them.”
It seems ironic that after ten years of continuously rising investment in public services, the penny has quite literally dropped and the funding party is now over.
It is time for tough choices to be made such as who shall
we vote for, to get us out of the mess?
