Today talks are being held between Network Rail and rail union, the RMT, in a last ditch attempt to prevent a strike occurring over the Easter holidays.
The main focus of those talks is Network Rail’s plans to cut 1500 rail jobs, which the RMT claim will affect safety on the railways.
This is despite Iain Coucher announcing that 400 of those jobs have already gone through natural wastage and that a further 1000 people have volunteered for redundancy.
That leaves 100 rail jobs to be cut. Is it worth damaging the image if rail even more for 100 rail jobs?
After all… there is four times as many being advertised on rtmjobs.com
