British Transport Police have launched a programme to educate drivers in Scotland about the dangers of misusing level crossings.
I think they have missed the point, because the fact that many level crossing accidents occur at crossings with no barrier speaks volumes.
Surely by making an investment now to introduce some kind of barrier across all level crossings we are saving in the future?
It is obvious, even to me, that if a level crossing has a clear barrier then that is going to be easier to see in a car than just a set of lights.
So why is Network Rail taking so long to realise this, too?
