So far this week I have received two press releases concerning the retirement of National Express East Anglia staff.
It is nice to see a company honouring its long serving staff and both men who were mentioned have obviously had full careers and been exemplary in their roles.
After spending fifty years a piece working in the same places, they have a long and well deserved retirement
ahead of them.
It made me a little sad to think though that staff these days probably wont get to have the same experience… as the tensions which boiled over around extra ticket machines
with Virgin Trains staff showed.
Of course automation will bring efficiency and less cost in
the long term, but it also means that people are out of a job.
