There have been many cases where this blog has accused both the rail unions and the government of scaremongering
to achieve their own goals; however French rail company SNCF yesterday managed to cause widespread panic without even meaning too!
When the company accidentally posted a message on its website saying that around a hundred people had been killed in an explosion, the company’s phone lines were jammed
with anxious relatives.
What did catch my eye was the company’s response: “We often carry out crisis exercises and send information messages to the public and press communiqués… There was an error today which meant that the message ended
up on sncf.com."
Not a word of apology… at least our train operators are
willing to say sorry when they get things wrong.
