It is vitally important that everyone in the rail industry abides by safety rules.
Deadlines must always be met, but at not at the expense of safety. Similarly, it is all very well taking short cuts to save time, but is it worth risking life to shave half an hour off a job?
Of course there may be pressure on you to cut corners as cuts are made and funding becomes tight, but no rail job is worth losing your life over; you work to live, not the other way around.
Network Rail has just released a film outlining the dangers faced by those with rail jobs to encourage us all to think before we act.
Britain has great record on safety… let’s keep it that way.
