It was a fantastic day for rail yesterday, as the future of our railway engineering force was given a kick start by the announcement of the two new railway engineering academies which will ensure that British jobs in rail are filled with highly skilled British people.
Given all the fuss about jobs at the moment, I am quite surprised that a cabinet minister hasn’t used that phrase themselves!
Putting ironic xenophobic satire aside for a moment, I just wanted to pass on my congratulations to all of those who have been working so hard to ensure that these academies have become a reality.
This is a great day for rail, jobs and for young people who want to become involved in rail.
