It was great news to hear that Chiltern Railways have stepped up to the mark and initiated major improvement works which the company is paying for instead of asking for public money.
Obviously this is great news for rail jobs, as it will provide many rail job positions throughout the area between Oxford and London.
It is also great because at last a train operating company is taking the initiative in improving rail services without going crying cap in hand to government.
This instance also raises the question as to why other train operating companies seem to need more freedom from their franchise agreements to effect positive change to the UK rail network?
