In just under a month the country will go to the polls in one of the closet fought election battles for many years.
The main question is whether the Conservative’s plans, which include cutting the budget deficit will actually pan out properly in real life, or whether the country will opt to stay with ‘the devil it knows in Labour’.
There is a fear that Labour’s plans to increase national insurance contributions will stifle growth in the economy, putting rail jobs at risk..
On the other hand the Conservatives are planning to cut back the public sector, which given that rail receives a lot of funding from government, means that again the industry is at risk.
