Whilst reading about the Royal Mail strikes today I began to wonder if striking has ever done an industry any good?
If you consider the industries which were famous for
striking; coal, steel and car manufacturing, they have now
all but bitten the dust completely.
It is right that rail workers should have some form of representation to ensure that they are given a fair deal in
their rail jobs. However strikes seem only to drain public support and allow an industries competitors to gain the
edge.
So the next time those with jobs in rail are thinking of
striking, perhaps they should consider that the passengers which they inconvenience are only going to go somewhere else.
It is not time to strike; it is time to talk.
