Politicians now face a fight to convince the public about high speed rail.
Everyone thought the idea was great at first, but as soon as Middle England (and the millions of votes they represent) found out that their beloved countryside will have to be scarred with a long grey corridor to Scotland, I wonder if the plans will receive such whole hearted support?
At least some of those people will get to keep their homes, as many will have theirs demolished in order to build the railway.
I can see a storm approaching…
