It seems that train operating companies are set to get almost exactly what they want if the Conservatives win power later this year.
The Tory plans are a curious mix of less regulation coupled with giving the ORR extra powers to regulate Network Rail bonuses.
Of course, all this is pie in the sky at the moment. The real
test will come when either the Conservatives or Labour actually have to do something about it.
In the same vein, barely a day goes by when I have to stifle
a laugh when hearing about the government’s ‘plans’ for the rail industry.
They all need to stop talking and start doing. Now!
