It stands as a testament to the dedication and skill of the engineers who worked tirelessly for six days, that the population of Workington has now been put back on the logistically map of Britain.
Three cheers must ring out for the hard working souls at Network Rail, Northern Rail and everyone who contributed to the task of reconnecting a blighted community.
Of course we must fight hard to retain all of these hard working men and women, who are at the moment facing the prospect of rail job cuts.
